Client Focus:
Trigger Software
|
In this issue we take a look at Trigger, a Cheltenham based software design agency that provide creative integration solutions through the bespoke development of software. Trigger have been a customer of PSU since March this year when we supplied them with a new Inter-Tel telephone system and started routing their voice calls.
What they do
Trigger is a transparent, open organisation, with a growing permanent staff of 20 that follows industry best practice through an ISO9001 compliant project management methodology. Their mission is simple: to provide creative integration solutions through the bespoke development of software, that solve mission critical problems and to build long-term partnerships with chosen clients.
Trigger helps companies innovate and streamline their operations. They design, write and service software for organisations that wish to save money by increasing efficiency and releasing trapped information, whilst reducing manifest errors, labour costs and complexity. Trigger work with clients to identify the requirements for software that cannot be found elsewhere and then design and build a solution
Their Speciality
Trigger specialise in highly innovative programs that release critical business information imprisoned in unmanageable spreadsheets. Many of their projects involve converting workgroup spreadsheets into enterprise-strength solutions that allow you to access, calculate and control your data, unlocking its potential for your business.
The penetration of spreadsheets within today’s business environment has brought both great advances and great problems to the enterprise.
The flexible but unstructured spreadsheet approach, often without the involvement of the IT department can lead to information constriction on a grand scale.
The enterprise has different needs to the lone spreadsheet architect, and its here that the spreadsheet becomes a problem, siphoning off corporate data and processing logic to the workstation, making the implementation of business rules impossible.
Trigger’s niche is in converting spreadsheet spaghetti into enterprise strength, integrated systems running on world class database servers. They have a proven track record in delivering smart solutions to the mess that spreadsheets have brought to organisations.

The Team
Trigger’s founder and managing director is Chris Owen-Smith, senior consultant and co-designer of the original Oracle™ based spreadsheet engine that started the Trigger snowball rolling. The rest of the team consists of a healthy mix of deep-thinking business consultants, talented software engineers, and an eagle-eyed management team.
Trigger’s headquarters are in Cheltenham, they took a large empty warehouse 10,000 sq ft to be precise, and built a production facility within it. This has given the flexibility to incorporate some unusual features, such as the cafe and library areas, but also install showers, lockers and a gym.
Natural light floods the workspace creating an inspirational yet functional environment that promotes transparency, communication and a healthy work-life balance.
